Here I am, back in the golden age of piracy in one of the many port town that were scattered across the Caribbean. I walk into a rundown bar of sorts and see what looks to be a very intimidating and commanding captain. As I examine this "captain" I start to get chills down my spine as I notice the plethora of gold and diamonds and luxurious petticoats with two pistols holstered and one in hand, I come to the realization that this person is a pirate. Every fiber of my being tells me to get away from this person as quickly as I can because I know how dangerous and ruthless these men can be but as I turn to leave the pirate grabs my shoulder and drunkenly interrogates, " Why you leavin in such a hurry?". In the few moments I have before a response is expected I notice something off about this pirate. Underneath his captain's hat I notice a long brunette curl that had been carefully placed to not be seen, I also notice the voice of this daring pirate seemed quite feminine. In utter shock and in bad judgement I blurt out awkwardly, " Are you a woman?". The bar gets silent and the pirate rushes me out of the tavern quickly into a back alley. It has now become certain that this pirate is a woman and she looks worried that the wrong people may have realized it now as well. She explains to me that it is crucial for her true identity to not be revealed as women are considered bad luck by pirate crews and she fears she will be severely punished by her own crew if they find out. She then goes into excruciating detail about all the various forms of torture she has seen played out to her crew's enemies and explains that she certainly does not desire a similar fate. Suddenly a few members burst out of the tavern and she slips right back into character pretending to the man her crew thinks she is by jostling me around pretending we were long time friends from back home. The rest of her crew drunkenly stumble back to the ship not thinking anything of it and the pirate captain follows. Then she whips around gives me a wink and tips her hat allowing her brunette locks to flow out but only for a moment and then she was gone.
